I never lost a little fish -
Yes, I'm free to say.
It always was the biggest fish
I caught, that got away.

All good fishermen stay young until they die, for fishing is the only dream of youth that does not grow stale with age. |

Blue Marlin
|
Size
|
Usually under 400-500 lbs, although this species can grow to over 16 feet in length and nearly 2,000 lbs. Females are generally much larger than males. World record is 1376 lbs. |
Food Value
|
Excellent, but usually released alive by sportsmen. |
Fishing Method
|
Sometimes Drifting; Trolling using whole natural baits or artificial lures. |
Fighting Characteristics
|
Pure speed seems to be one of the major differences that separates the Blue Marlin from the Black. A very strong and exceptionally fast fish which can test not only the angler and tackle but the entire crew. Large Blues will often spool large reels in a very short amount of time. They will very often make a power dive down 400 or 500 yards and stay there. The capture of a large Blue is definitely a team effort. |
